Fine motor skills 4-5 years old:
HANDS UP!

This workshop is intended for children who will be starting kindergarten next September or who have various fine motor skill challenges at school.

Objectives:

  1. Develop laterality and hand preference.
  2. Develop muscles to adopt a mature pencil and scissor grip.
  3. Develop colouring, tracing and cutting skills.
  4. Learn how to write first name, last name and the numbers 0 to 9.
  5. Stimulate skills needed in recreational play.

Location: Aptitude Ergo Inc. premises

Schedule: 2 sessions of 1 hour 30 minutes over 1 week, Monday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 8:30 am to 10:00 am.

Group: 3 children for 1 occupational therapist. *Workshop in French.

Fine motor skills 6-8 years old:  :
SURFING THROUGH LETTERS!

This workshop is intended for children with calligraphy difficulties (legibility, inversion, proportion, space management, etc.).

Objectives:

  1. Strengthen the motor patterns of script and cursive letters.
  2. Reinforce the development of fine motor skills.
  3. Promote automated writing motor skills (speed, fluidity).
  4. Improve pencil control and pressure.
  5. Improve line spacing and organization on the sheet.

Location: Aptitude Ergo Inc. premises

Schedule: 6 sessions of 1 hour over 3 weeks, Mondays and Wednesdays, from July 8 to July 24, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Group: 3 to 4 children for 1 occupational therapist. *Workshop in French.

Riding a bike 6-10 years old :

ABRACADAB-RIDE!

This workshop is for children who have difficulty switching to a two-wheeled bike.

Objectives:

  1. Promote the development of motor skills for two-wheeled cycling (e.g., leg coordination, trunk and shoulder stability).
  2. Improve self-confidence.
  3. Promote the learning of bicycle safety rules.
  4. Encourage participation in bicycle rides with parents.

Location: Parc Légaré, Laval

Schedule: 6 sessions of 1 hour 15 minutes spread over 6 weeks (1 week out of 2), on Mondays and Wednesdays May 13, 15, 27, 29 and June 10, 12, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.

Group: 3 to 4 children accompanied by a parent and an occupational therapist.

For 6-9 years old :

SKIPPING ROPE: HOP!

This workshop is for children who do not yet know how to jump rope, but want to learn so they can play with their friends at home or at school during recess.

Objectives:

  1. To promote the improvement of the impulse of jumps and the coordination of both legs.
  2. To help improve arm and leg coordination.
  3. To help improve eye-leg coordination to jump at the right time.
  4. To improve body awareness in space.

Location: Aptitude Ergo Inc. premises

Schedule: 6 sessions of 1 hour 15 minutes over 3 weeks, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:15 a.m., from June 3 to June 19, 2024.

Group: 3 to 4 children for 1 occupational therapist.

For 5-8 years old:
BALL and BALLOON

This workshop is designed for children who have difficulty handling balls on the playground or in physical education.

Objectives:

  1. Promote the development of bilateral coordination, arm and leg coordination;
  2. To promote the development of hand-eye and foot-eye coordination;
  3. Promote the development of visual attention and visual tracking;
  4. Promote the development of motor planning;
  5. Promote the integration of the child during recess, physical education classes or games in the park.

Location: Aptitude Ergo Inc. premises

Schedule: 6 sessions of 1 hour and 15 minutes over 3 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., from July 9 to July 25, 2024.

Group: 3 to 4 children and an occupational therapist.

Gross motor skills 6-10 years old:
SUPERHERO COURSE!

*Not available in the summer 2024 session*

This workshop is intended for children with gross motor difficulties (balance, coordination, muscle tone, lack of self-confidence in sports, clumsiness, etc.).

Objectives:

  1. Improve bilateral coordination and arm/leg coordination.
  2. Improve the execution of a sequence of motor skills.
  3. Improve balance and postural control.
  4. Improve spatial body awareness.
  5. Decrease vestibular fears.

Location: Aptitude Ergo Inc. premises

Schedule: 6 sessions of 1 hour over 3 weeks.

Group: 2 to 4 children and one occupational therapist.

Parent-child meditation group

*Not available in the summer 2024 session*

Workshop for parents who want simple, dynamic and playful tools to offer their child (and themselves) and to have the opportunity to develop personal and daily meditative practice. The themes covered are emotions, anxiety, anger, love and gratitude in everyday life.

Objectives:

  1. Promote the discovery of meditation as a tool to better manage the inner world of you and your child.
  2. Develop simple tools to deal with everyday challenges.
  3. Encourage distance between ourselves and the passing emotion.
  4. Bring you different perspectives for viewing the events of daily life.
  5. Take the practice of meditation with your child home.

Location: Aptitude Ergo Inc. premises

Schedule: 4 sessions over 4 weeks

  • 4 to 5 years old
  • 6 to 8 years old
  • 9 to 10 years old

Group: 2 to 4 children accompanied by a parent and a social worker.

Payment procedures:

Payment for the workshops is made by phone at 450-687-7854 and press “0” and mention to the receptionist that you wish to pay for the workshops. Following this call, a registration form will be sent to you by email and will have to be signed.

The accepted methods of payment are

  • credit card
  • Interac transfer

Payment can be made in 1 or 2 instalments (50% of the amount of the chosen workshop). Registration is confirmed upon receipt of the form and payment.

**An occupational therapy receipt will be emailed to you at the end of the workshops.

Cancellation policy:

In case of cancellation of registration more than 3 full weeks (21 days) prior to the first class date of the workshop, 100% of the fee will be refunded.

For late cancellations, less than 3 weeks (20 days) prior to the first class date of the workshop, you will be charged the full cost of the workshop.

If the child is absent during a class, the total cost of the workshop will be charged.
